Meet our staff! Every instructor has a certification in their field because safety and proper instruction is always our main concern. Our instructors are some of the most respected in the southeast! Black Creek Guides instructors are well know for their accomplishments and contributions to the paddle sports communities as they have been a part in pioneering many of the activities and curriculums used in paddle sports education across the country.

MATT HITE // Head SUP Instructor

Besides working inside on a computer at Black Creek doing many various behind the scenes jobs, Matt can also be found outside teaching our lessons, training other instructors, and guiding trips on stand up paddle boards. Matt has experience and knowledge being involved in the SUP industry since it has started! Matt is a native Floridian and a true waterman; he comes from a family of lifeguards, surfers and teachers that have a passion for the ocean. During his time off he enjoys taking trips, training other instructors, volunteering with teaching kids, hanging at the beach with his wife, or managing one of the largest stand up paddle boarding clubs in Florida at SUPJAX.com. Matt has traveled all over the world surfing waves and is passionate about sharing the waterman lifestyle and the stoke of paddling.

Amy Powers // SUP Yoga Instructor

Amy is an ACA Level 1 SUP Instructor and a 200 hour Yoga Certified Instructor. She combines her yoga experience with her paddling skills to offer premium instruction to all who take her course. As a Florida native, Amy has a true appreciation for an outdoor lifestyle and when combined with her yoga moves, she offers a course that is both fun and well-balanced for those looking to get out there on the water.   • ACA SUP Yoga Endorsement

  • 200 hour Yoga Certified from Ananda Kula

  • 2006: BS in Actuarial Science & Statistics, with a minor in Business
  • Experience with Acro yoga/partner yoga - taught for 'AcroJams'

Adam Thompson // Head Kayak Instructor

Wendy is an ACA Level 1 SUP Instructor as well as a 300 hour certified yoga instructor. She specializes in fusion style classes combining her experience with Yoga, Pilates, and fitness to offer a challenging but always fun experience. She has always been passionate about the water and also enjoys cycling, hiking, traveling and cooking. In her free time she loves hanging out with her family (husband, 3 kids, 2 dogs and a cat).

  • Traveled to Australia for "6 months" which became 10 years.

Sigrid masson // sup instructor

 

Sigrid is Black Creek's visual merchandiser and an ACA Level 1 instructor. She was born and raised in Europe and lived in New York City before ending up on Skinner Lake for her first SUP lesson. She has been paddling ever since and got certified through the shop. Sigrid enjoys seeing her students get on their board an catch their first stroke. In her free time, she can be found at the beach, taking yoga lessons or working on her next design project.
